We are proud to release the second edition of this new text from Wilderness Medical Associates. The first edition was published in April of 2006 as a draft to be reviewed and critiqued by WMA instructors and students in wilderness medicine courses throughout the US and Canada. In response, we have made numerous edits, added several chapters, and enhanced the addendum for advanced practitioners.
Wilderness and Rescue Medicine is designed to be a textbook for Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness EMT, and Wilderness Advanced Life Support courses. Yet, it can also be read and understood on its own by anyone with a modest amount of first aid training. The Preface, Introduction, and table of contents are included with the sample chapters to give you the book’s background and content.
